Keep your Solar Powered Street lights working at all times
Updated: Aug 5, 2020

The use of solar energy is ever-increasing. As people are shifting to greener forms of energy, there has been an increase in solar-powered products. It is perhaps the greenest and most efficiently tapped energy at the moment. To harness the energy from the sun you will need a location that receives ample amount of sunlight and solar panels to catch the photons. Solar energy is renewable and makes it a good choice for the environment.
One of the ways solar energy is being harnessed today is as solar-powered street lights. Solar panels have been attached to the top of street lights erected on dividers on the street. These contain photovoltaic cells that charge the battery that keeps the LEDs powered through the evening and night.
Solar Panel
The solar panel is the most important parts of a solar street light, as that is the main elements to capture the energy from the sun. The solar panel can convert solar energy into electricity that the lights can use. Make sure to buy good quality solar panels to ensure that the lights keep working. Also, make sure to regularly maintain these panels to extend their life and keep the street lights working efficiently through time.
Lighting Fixture
LEDs are used as the primary lighting source in solar street lights today. They provide a much higher luminosity and lower energy consumption. LEDs use most of their energy for lighting and very less is wasted in the form of heat. LEDs also offer longer life from about 35,000 hours to 50,000 hours.
Rechargeable Battery
Batteries store the electricity generated by the solar panel during the day and power the lights during the night. The life cycle and the capacity of the battery are very important as they will affect the backup days of the lights. Make sure to choose high-quality rechargeable batteries with a larger capacity. A larger capacity battery will be able to store the generated electricity for longer and power the lights on days when the sun isn't out.
Pole
Strong poles are necessary for all street lights. However, they become even more important in case of solar-powered street lights, as along with the light fixture they also have to support the solar panel mounted on top. Use sturdy poles so that they are also able to combat any wind resistance.
