Buy the Right Water Heater this Winter Season
As we approach winters, the need for heat and warmth becomes important too. A water geyser is a necessity for that. There are a variety of geysers in the market and picking the right one can be difficult. Here is how you make the right decision.
TYPES OF GEYSERS
TANK WATER HEATERS
These heaters have a tank that holds water for heating. The capacity of the tank determines how much hot water will be available at once. The tank is insulated so that when the water heats up, it remains warm until it is needed. This is the most commonly used water heater in homes, but you only get a limited amount of hot water. These water heaters are the most affordable and easy to install.
TANK-LESS WATER HEATER
A tankless water heater has super-heated coils that fill with water and heat water in a few seconds depending on your requirement. This is a good option if you need a large amount of hot water. These water heaters come in different sizes, so you can choose which one is best for your house. They are smaller in comparison to tank heaters but are costlier than them and require more electricity.
HEAT PUMP WATER HEATER
These water heaters use heat from the air and ground to heat water. The only electricity used is to move heat from the ground or air to the water to the tank and not to generate heat. Heat pump water heaters use up to 60 % less electricity than traditional water heaters. You may need more vertical space for the installation of these heaters because the pump is located at the top. But they are energy efficient and can be incredibly cost-efficient in the long run. These heaters, however, won't work in a cold environment. They are also the most expensive variant of heaters.
CONDENSING WATER HEATER
The condensing water heater uses primarily natural gas as its energy source. These water heaters pass heated exhaust from the natural gas system to heat the water, which is stored in a tank. The gas fumes move through a coil at the bottom of the tank to heat the water using very little energy. This is usually the most energy-efficient version if you have natural gas available near you. Since these water heaters require a larger tank there is plenty of water for use.
SOLAR POWERED WATER HEATER
A solar-powered water heater allows you to draw energy from the sun. This is one of the most energy-efficient water heaters and relies on roof-mounted solar panels as its energy source. The energy from the sun rays is transferred to a closed-loop system with heat-conductive material that heats the water in the tank. This can save a lot of money for people who live in warm, sunny climates. Solar power is one of the cleanest yet costliest type of power. However, in the longer run, it helps you save more.
